It's More Fun in Holy Cross of Davao College

       The Holy Cross of Davao College is one of the prestigious school in Davao City known with its mission in providing quality catholic education to all especially the less fortunate. Indeed, Holy Cross of Davao College makes it statement realistic to all through living the faith and knowing the truth. But do you know what makes Holy Cross unique from other institutions? FLASHBACK::::

          When I was about to graduate in high school, my father told me he cannot afford to send me to college anymore  but because of my determination to pursue my dreams I went to many colleges and universities in Davao City hoping if there are scholarship being offered.
       At the end of the day, I found myself at the scholarship office of Holy Cross of Davao College. That was the first time I saw the beauty of the school.

          Fortunately, I became part of the Student Assistant Scholars Organization. Being a student assistant in Holy Cross of Davao College is a blessing God gave to me. I can take my degree free from paying tuition fee and at the same time I am able to gain many experiences that I could bring for the rest of my life.

FIRST YEAR

                This year was the most difficult year in my stay in Holy Cross. It was not easy for me to adopt new environment because I was then a shy type of person with no self-confidence. I had a lot of struggles like waking up early in the morning, meeting the deadlines in submitting projects, and doing both study and work at the same time.

                Through prayers and keeping in mind the reasons why I need to pursue my dreams, I have learned how to manage my schedule and become flexible in doing good performance in my work and become excellent in my study. Thus, at the end of the semester I became a Dean' Lister-Third Honors.

SECOND YEAR

              This was the year that I realized that if I will just keep on silent, I will achieve nothing. I participated in several activities and competitions during Intramural like Quiz Bowl where I got the 4th place. I was also able to gain more friends not just within the SASO but also with my other classmates. 

              There were also times that I wanted to give up because I could not handle anymore the pressure and the problems I have encountered both in my study and work but still I stand and recall everything what my mother told me before she died. She told me "nak paningkamot ug skwela kay wala ko'y lain mabilin sa imuha, ikaw ang pag-asa sa imung papa ug mga igsoon". Though it sounds weird but believe me everytime I remember these words, it made my heart bleeding.

               What I reap was also what I harvest. At the end of the semester I became a Dean's Lister but this time a 1st Honors.

THIRD YEAR

             This year I have already found my whole self in the future. The values and culture Holy Cross taught me helped a lot. I was able to established a self-confidence, a good character and possessed the virtue of conservatism. 

              I even excel more in the academe. It's nice to hear from my classmates and teachers that they were proud of me. If they were just know the secret behind those achievements-It's God's continuous support. YES! believe me. 

              Despite the busy schedule, I was able to joined competition during Intramural and SASO activties.

              At the end of the semester.............I became a Dean's Lister-2nd Honors. You might ask me 'how many percent was refund I've got from the finance office', well, nothing even a one peso.

FOURTH YEAR

             THIS IS IT!!!!!! 

         The most awaited moment of my life is fast approaching - Graduation Day! But before marching towards the stage and get my diploma and hopefully an award, let me share my experiences this last and definitely not the least year of my stay in Holy Cross of Davao College.
           To show thanks to my office head, Ms. Jean A. Legaspi, the Basic Education Principal of Holy Cross of Davao College, I become more obedient and eager to do my duty in the office and even do an overtime without pay.
            I also have many achievements like became 1st Runner-Up in the Quiz Bowl competition during the 5th COMEEPP Mindanao Conference held in San Pedro College and 1st Runner-Up as contributor in the Impromptu Speech in the same event, became an Oral Presenter in the Student Research Congress 2014 held in the HCDC-AVR and an Oral Presenter in the National Academic Conference on Multidisciplinary Research held in Brokenshire Hotel & Resort Convention Center.
